New Rods
Those familiar with the subject know all too well that growing demand for both quality vintage and new bamboo rods has driven prices up over four figures with rare pieces periodically exceeding fives figures. A number of highly regarded makers have long waiting lists and backlogged rod orders - consequently driving prices up further.
However, we are fortunate these days that so many individual craftsmen have taken to the production of quality cane rods. Finished rods from most makers start at a cost equivalent to today's highest-end graphite rods because rod finishing is time consuming and labor intensive. This limits the annual rod production of any maker and drives prices up accordingly. But there are less expensive alternatives for the rod buyer. Many rod makers offer unfinished newly constructed blanks at reasonable cost. This is my approach to saving on bamboo rods.

Now you don't have to invest the time, effort and expense to learn how to finish out your own rod from blank. I collaborate with many well-known makers across North America that produce blanks of exceptional quality. I only work with makers using the finest materials, adhesives and techniques. I purchase rod models in hexagonal, pentagonal and quadrate formats to suit every specific need. I order custom components including reel seats, cork, guides and silk from regarded manufacturers and distributors such as: Bellinger, Struble, CSE, Snake Brand and others to finish out the rods.

My prices for newly constructed rods are often substantially less than that of the maker that produced the blank. And in many cases, I offer a greater selection in components and custom finishing than most.
The choices or rod length, taper and configuration are endless so if you are interested in exploring this option, please contact me for more details.
